We shared last edition about how delighted we are to be partnering with WEA Adult Learning and Skills SA to provide our members with free additional learning opportunities through WEA’s program of short courses. As well as developing new skills, lifelong learning can contribute to ageing well with benefits including promoting brain health, staying active and engaged and making new social connections.

Talk aged care with our Aged Care Navigators | |
COTA SA's Aged Care Navigators are available to support older people, who can’t manage their own journey to receiving aged care, or don’t have anyone else to help them. If you live in the Adelaide Metropolitan region, contact us to find out if you’re eligible for support to:- register with My Aged Care
- understand the aged care service types available
- have an aged care assessment
- explore your rights, choices and responsibilities
- choose an aged care provider

LGBTI+ resources for aged care providers | |
COTA SA has a range of LGBTI+ aged care resources which aim to provide organisations with the tools and information they need to assist them to provide safe and inclusive care for older LGBTI+ people.
New resources recently added for aged care providers include: - Will I Be Safe?
Produced in partnership with Murray Mallee Council, Will I Be Safe? is a useful video and leaflet for older LGBTI+ people contemplating or arranging aged care in their home, and equally useful for home care providers for insights into providing sensitive and appropriate aged care supports. - Digital Storytelling.
How do you as an aged care provider get to know the people you support, and how can you use digital storytelling as a way of reviewing and co-producing your services.

Part of International Day of Older Persons celebrations, the competition and exhibition promote ageing well by celebrating the skills of older South Australians through the art of photography and demonstrate that people can learn and create at any age. | |

Generations come together | |

In a project by COTA SA Supporter, Helping Hand and Gleeson College, two generations have come together as students from Gleeson College have been paired with residents of Helping Hand forging meaningful connections for both groups. In the words of Tanya McIver, Group Manager, Residential Services, Helping Hand "We believe in creating relationships that foster a better connection with clients, our teams, each other, and the community”.
